Man tries to abduct young boy
Incident is second abduction attempt in two days in city; police on lookout

A man driving a rusty brown station wagon with a broken front grill attempted to abduct at least one boy about 6 p.m. Monday, police said. It is the second abduction attempt in two days.

The suspect is a skinny, 35-to-40 year old man with acne and a scar that runs from his ear to his jaw on the left side of his face. He speaks with an accent. He wears round or oval glasses.

Sunday, a suspect of a similar description attempted to abduct an 11-year-old girl in the 500 block of 8th Ave. S.

Monday, two 11-year-old boys were riding scooters near the corner of 5th Ave. S. and 27th St.

A man pulled up in an old brown station wagon and ordered one boy to get into the car, police said.

The boy, having heard of the previous day's abduction attempt, held up his scooter defensively and then bolted. His friend saw the interaction take place from across the street and also quickly left.

In both day's incidents, the children did exactly what they needed to do, said Lt. Bryan Lockerby. They immediately fled, sought help and notified adults.
